The National Theatre Festival

Started as a Project of Bucharest City Hall in 1990, the Festival developed its own identity within the Romanian and international cultural space, over its 17 years of existence, getting in line with European standards both from the point of view of value and financial partnership.

The Ministry of Culture and Cults joined Bucharest City Hall in supporting this cultural project of national importance.

The National Theatre Festival is organized by UNITER, according to the Decision of the Ministry of Culture and Cults. As organizer, UNITER designates the artistic manager of the festival (a three-year mandate) and supports the implementation of the program financed by the Ministry of Culture and Cults and Bucharest City Hall.

The National Theatre Festival is held every year in November, it doesn’t have a competitive character and, over the past few years, also added an international component.
