In memoriam Virgil Andriescu, 26 April 1936 – 20 November 2025

Virgil Andriescu belongs to that category of actors who breathed theatre. Actors who lived theatre with simplicity, sincerity, and with an elegance and presence befitting great artists.

In memoriam Virgil Andriescu, 26 April 1936 – 20 November 2025

Virgil Andriescu often said that “actors never really die.” And that was because, after more than five decades spent on stage and in front of the camera, he had come to understand the depths of theatre and film.

Indeed, he lived theatre fully, without searching for any hidden meaning in it. He was simply there on stage, giving everything. Without holding back—like the truly great do. One of those “actors who burn without remainder,” as Miruna Runcan put it.

Thank you, Mr. Virgil Andriescu, for the theatre that enriched us.

For those who wish to pay their respects, the maestro will lie in repose at the main chapel of Bellu Cemetery on Monday, 24 November, starting at 4:00 PM.

May God rest his soul!
