Initially, UNITEXT wanted to stimulate the publication of new plays, especially by editing the ones awarded by the Contest “Best Romanian Play of the Year”. Therefore, the first collection of the publishing house was entitled New plays. Romanian playwrights series. Starting from 1996, this collection also has a Foreign playwrights series.
Over the years, several other collections and series were added: Document, Anthologies, Memoirs, Diaries, Dialog, Essay/Criticism, Magister, University.
Besides theatre books, UNITEXT has also published, for several years, “Theatre Signal” – a trimestrial culture magazine, and the “Romanian Theatre Annual” (an album-ranked publication, published courtesy of UNITER and the Romanian Ministry of Culture and Cults, with information regarding the previous theatrical session and a largely-illustrated overview of the theatrical session for all drama and puppet theatres in Romania).
