The jury of the UNITER contest “Best Romanian Play of the Year 2008”, consisting of SANDA MANU, director, ALICE GEORGESCU, theatre critic, ION COCORA, theatre critic, decided on the following plays for the Final Selection:
Still Life with Obese Nephew (Natură moartă cu nepot obez) by Ion Sapdaru
Orient Expresso by Radu Macrinici
The Perfect Day (Ziua perfectă) by Antoaneta Zaharia
Dying for the Country (Moartea pentru patrie) by Mihai Ignat
Airport (Aeroport) by Ştefan Caraman
Youtube by Viorel Cojanu
Of these, the Jury decided that the winner is the play:
STILL LIFE WITH OBESE NEPHEW (NATURĂ MOARTĂ CU NEPOT OBEZ) by ION SAPDARU
The program Best Play of the Year takes place annually under the aegis and with the support of The Royal House of Romania.
The prize will be offered on the night of the UNITER Awards Gala, on April 27th, 2009, and the winning play will be published in a volume by UNITEXT Publishing House.
