Virtual library

The Virtual Library project was launched in April 2020, at the beginning of the social crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. By restructuring its projects, UNITER came to meet theater lovers with a cultural offer adapted to the social crisis situation. A crisis was transformed into an opportunity.

The online project VIRTUAL LIBRARY is aimed at those who want to be up to date with UNITER’s editorial news, as well as those who want to be informed about the evolution of contemporary Romanian dramaturgy.

The VIRTUAL LIBRARY includes the winning and nominated plays of the Best Romanian Play of the Year Drama Competition (competition organized by UNITER since 1991), starting with 2009.

Find here in digital format, for reading, the texts of these plays from the last twelve editions of the competition and it is constantly updated.

It’s time for some resets. A crisis is often an opportunity. Not just a risk.

Let’s be optimistic and find opportunities!

That is why, like most cultural institutions, and not only, UNITER is restructuring its projects and is meeting theater lovers with a cultural offer adapted to the social crisis situation we are going through these days.

The rush of the days when everything seemed possible, when we did many things without being constrained by anything has dissolved. Now we live in the present, we seem to have more time for ourselves and our loved ones, we test our limits and patience, we (re)discover our passions. In other words, we LIVE.

In addition to providing a weekly reading source, the virtual library can be an extremely useful database for artists who want to approach contemporary Romanian drama texts in their future projects.

And because in these times we can only practice the word TOGETHER in the virtual space, we are launching a challenge for artists in the world of theater! We invite those who wish to “meet” online and create a reading performance starting from one of the posted plays.

The 2020 edition of the drama competition “The Best Romanian Play of the Year” is in full swing. The jury continues its work of reading the plays entered in the competition, and at the beginning of May we will find out the winner.
