The awards for 1998/1999 theatre season

THE NOMINATIONS for the 1998-1999 UNITER AWARDS were made by a selection JURY made up of the following critics: Doina Modola, Victor Parhon and Constantin Paraschivescu

  • Valer Dellakeza for the part Trufaldino in the show “The Servant of Two Masters” („Sluga la doi stapani“) by Carlo Goldoni, directed by: Vlad Mugur (National Theatre, Craiova) – WINNER
  • Bogdan Zsolt for the parts Caliban in the show “The Tempest” („Furtuna“) by W. Shakespeare, directed by: Dragos Galgotiu and Lenglumé in the show “The Murder from Lourcine Street” („Crima din strada Lourcine“) by Eugene Labiche (State Hungarian Theatre, Cluj)

The Award for Best Actress

  • Virginia Itta Marcu for the parts Martha in the show “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?” („Cui i-e frica de Virginia Woolf?“) by Edward Albee and Elena Sergheeva in the show “Santa“ by Ludmila Razumovskaia (Sica Alexandrescu Theatre, Brasov) – WINNER
  • Dorina Lazar for the part Zita in the show “A Sortmy Night” („O noapte furtunoasa“) by I.L.Caragiale (Odeon Theatre and SMART)
  • Kitty Stroescu for the part Sancho Panza in the show „Don Quijote“ after Cervantes (Radu Stanca Theatre, Sibiu)

The Award for Best Scenography

  • Irina Solomon and Dragos Buhagiar for the show “The School for Wives” („Scoala femeilor”) by Molière (The Small Theatre)
  • Lia Mantoc for the show “The Servant of Two Masters” („Sluga la doi stapani“) by Carlo Goldoni (National Theatre, Craiova) – WINNER

  • The Romanian Section of the International Association of Theatre Critics (AICT) grants the Critics’ Award to the director VLAD MUGUR and to the scenographers HELMUT STÜRMER, LIA MANTOC, ILONA JARO VARGA for the exceptional value of the shows The Servant of Two Masters by Carlo Goldoni and That’s how it is (if it looks like that to you) by Luigi Pirandello from the National Theatre in Craiova.
